Kids Travel Games to Play Along the Way
Traveling with children requires a little advance planning and some means to keep them occupied so that you’re all able to travel with your attention on the things it needs to be on, such as driving, the flight calls, or your children and luggage. Kids travel games to play along the way will make the trip a whole lot easier and more fun for everyone.
Making certain that you have the things you need well in advance and that you don’t leave them behind in the last mad dash is your first order of business. Lists, of course will help immensely. Parents do lists for nearly everything don’t we?
Putting these things on your list, particularly with small children is going to save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
Travel games–flash cards, small crafting items, miniature games, pens and paper for things like tic tac toe, or other games will help to while away the hours in a car or an airport.
Stuffed toys–Every child has a favorite and don’t leave home without it. There isn’t a lot of room in the car, or on the plane, but having that one special toy that they sleep with will keep your child–and you–a lot more comfortable. Having a few kids travel games to play along the way will also help to keep everyone more comfortable and less unsettled.
In an aircraft of course you are limited for ideas but a few good ones might be things such as flash cards, which teach while you play, or games such as the small travel games made by many of the game companies. Tiny version of the larger games such as battleship or checkers will help to while away a few hours and keep things on an even keel.
Another great idea for either car travel or flights is making a small travel journal while on the way. This becomes it’s own game. A small pair of plastic scissors, a glue stick, some smaller sheets of paper and other adornments can all be kept in one small craft bag. The mess is kept to a minimum and the travel journals can be built as a means to stay occupied and used when you arrive at your destination.
Car travel actually lends itself well to travel games for children. School aged children will find it fun to count hotels, road signs, or even other cars, and musical games and interaction will also help them to pass time.
